Since so many seem to be doing this one, I htought I'd join in.

Name a fandom you know (or you think) I might know, and I will tell you these things.

1. The character I first fell in love with

Tolkien (Hobbit, LotR and Silm primarily)
Marvel movie-verse (Thor, Avengers)

Also, a lot of the actors who were in the above movies/tv series were in others, and I usually follow their work in other things too.

1. The character I first fell in love with
I don't know that I fell in love with any of them right away but it would probably be Loki

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Tony Stark -- I just love his snarkiness. [g]

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t
Jane Foster maybe? She's ok but I can never see her and Thor as a legit couple.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Maria Hill (though I don't know that she gets a lot of hate.) I would have said Loki but he seems to be getting a whole lotta love right now. ;)

5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer
That would be Thor. He bears an unfortunate physical resemblance to one of my ex's from hell, and now I loathe him not only for that but for a variety of reasons in the movies.

6. The character I would totally smooch
Loki, of course. :)

7. The character I’d want to be like
Tony Stark. Why? "Genius, billionaire, *writer*, philanthropist." [vbeg]

8. The character I’d slap
Odin and probably Frigga too for lying to Loki about being adopted. (I will never understand why Frigga did not take it upon herself to tell Loki about being adopted.) Also for the fact that Odin is known to be one of the most powerful sorcerers *ever*, and yet no one ever casts any doubt on *his* masculinity. Grrrr!

9. A pairing that I love
Loki (or in some cases, Lady Loki) with just about anyone. It all depends on how well the story is written and how well things are handled. (Of course, a good gen story is fine too, crack can be a lot of fun, and Jotunn!Loki is very hot for a Frost Giant. ;)

10. A pairing that I despise
I don't think I despise any pairings. Some don't work as well for me, true but if I am ever offended by one, I simply find something else.

Oh, true that!

I suffer the same thing with actors or characters who remind me of people I used to know, (who were nasty in one way or another) I can't like them and go off the character completely.

1. The character I first fell in love with
I'm guessing it was Glorfindel because of Asfaloth. :) It might have been Legolas or Elrond but it was definitely one of the elves. I was very young when I was introduced to Tolkien, and I was told to read The Hobbit first "because it sets up all of LotR". (The Silm was unpublished because The Professor was still alive. My only regret is that I did not send him a fan letter to tell him how much it meant to me.)

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Maedhros. It's easy to overlook Feanor's sons because Feanor himself has such an overwhelming personality. I sometimes think Maedhros is how Feanor might have been had Miriel lived.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t
I think I love almost all of the characters tbh. As an adult, I can understand their dreams and desires far better than I ever could have when I was younger.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Eowyn (though I'm not sure everyone hates her) because I genuinely identified with her when I was younger -- still do, really.

5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer
As I said before, I think I love all of the characters. Now that I'm older, my perception and understanding of people and things changed quite a few.

6. The character I would totally smooch
Any of the elves but I'll start with Gil-galad. ;)

7. The character I’d want to be like
Again, this would be Eowyn. :)

8. The character I’d slap
Denethor. I know he was grieving for Boromir but the way he treated Faramir was disgusting.

9. A pairing that I love
I don't think I have a special favorite. As I said before, everything depends on the writing and how the particular subject is being handled. Though I do prefer slash to het.

10. A pairing that I despise
Again, it's all about how it is written. Some stories just leave me cold and when that happens, I just find something else.

Alex Krycek. For some reason, I never really watched the show til right before the first movie came out (though I had seen some eps) and as luck would have it, the first one I saw featured Alex, and I was hooked.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Jose Chung. XD Seriously, I adore that ep.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t
A. D. Skinner, I guess. He's ok but I just don't *like* him very much.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Duane Barry

5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer
I don't think I have one. I either liked them or I didn't, and that usually didn't change.

6. The character I would totally smooch
Alex! :)

7. The character I’d want to be like
Margaret Scully (Dana's mum)

8. The character I’d slap
Almost anyone from the Season 6 on -- I really disliked the show after CC got his greedy paws on it and it moved from BC.

9. A pairing that I love
Mostly Alex with just about anyone. (I love writing Alex; since he doesn't have a defined backstory, I can do what I want. :)

10. A pairing that I despise
I wouldn't say 'despise' as much as 'don't get'. I know a lot of people ship Mulder/Scully but that never worked for me. They were so much better as friends; why insist on them being lovers?

Also, I dislike seeing Skinner as part of any slash *or* het pairing. He's ok in gen stuff, where he's just the A.D. though.
