... and as an added bonus, I have a rotten cold. If I'm lucky, maybe it'll turn out to be the flu despite a flu shot. So looks like I still won't be around much.

Fwiww, I did get to see The Hobbit though. Looks like that might be the high point of my month.

What rotten luck to get back online only to feel too yucky to be online. I hope you get over it soon.

I went to The Hobbit in 2D on Saturday then drove 100 miles to see it in 3D on Sunday. I don't know why I bother with 3D. It's never worth the extra miles or box office cost. But every couple of years I convince myself it's probably a better experience than I remember and it never is.

I saw The Hobbit in 3D for the simple fact that the little local three-plex (a partially converted Art Deco theatre) was showing that in the original section, and I always prefer seeing movies there rather than in either of the modern additions. (To say nothing of the many happy memories of sneaking in through the alley door back in the day... and of course, the balcony section... *ahem* ;)

Good to have you back -- but I'm sorry to hear that you are under the weather again. *sigh* Been a rough year for viruses here too -- about half of the customers/associates at my job are presently suffering from one malady or another. (I'm waiting for cold virus #3 to knock on my door around Christmas eve or so. *bleargh*)

Being a devotee of the source material, I'm curious to know what you thought of the film. I enjoyed it for the most part -- not blown away by any means, but pleasantly entertained throughout -- but the Tolkien-addict I went with had major issues with the pacing and length, and felt it smacked a bit of "fanfiction". *shrugs* It did look utterly amazing in 2D though...and Gollum was the highlight of the film for me. Gonna be a long wait 'till next Christmas, isn't it?

Seeing The Hobbit was a definite plus -- and I am so glad that they had a nice wide age range for the Dwarves. :) I am seriously looking forward to reading about them and the elves.
