Today's News and Weather Report

It rained again in the night. And so I got a late start to the day. I was tempted to sleep in but I wanted to get some fresh veggies etc. and since my cough was better, I just wanted to get out and faff around a bit.

Things got weird right away when I hit the ATM to go to the local farmer's market in Hastings. After getting my few $$, I looked at my paper receipt (as always) and had a big shock. Rather than being overdrawn, I had *too much* listed in my account. By almost 1.000! :(

Now while I admit I am not too smart about a lot of things, two things I do know are: (a) I did not win the lottery and (b) that money belongs to *someone* and they are going to want it back.

So I went inside (luckily they were still open) and asked them to double-check. And yes, my receipt was 'right'.

"But that can't be," I said. "It's too much."

So they looked, and sure enough there were two *separate* deposits for 500 -- which apparently, came out of nowhere. And after a few minutes of discussion (to make sure it didn't somehow get out of my retirement, which would mean a hacking issue of some kind) they said they would have to call the head office first thing Monday and see what was going on.

I only hope that "the glitch" is not causing havoc in someone else's life.

Oh, it would be lovely if it were. But alas, it is not. Woe.
