This fic is a personal favorite of mine and it is also one of the first Legolas mpregs that I read upon ‘rediscovering’ this fandom. It is the second part of the ‘Anestel’ series, taking place directly after ‘Anestel’ and ending just prior to ‘Fael Amrûn’.
This a dark and grim universe where Imladris and Mirkwood have been locked in bitter, acrimonious feuding since the end of the Last Alliance, and the other Elven realms have considerable difficulty in remaining neutral. There is a definite sense of superiority on the side of the Noldor toward the Sindar and Silvans, though it appears that the Sindar and Silvans look down on the Noldor in much the same way and probably for many of the same reasons.
Glorfindel is slowly trying to rectify the great wrong that he has done to Legolas but he still has a tendency to see and think of the young prince as more of rare and expensive pet rather than a person to cherish, love and marry despite the birth of their son Gîlríon.
Further complicating matters is the fact that Legolas' mere presence is barely tolerated by the other residents of Imladris, despite being under Glorfindel's protection, while his relationship with Glorfindel can best be described as volatile.
It is not until Glorfindel takes Legolas and their son on a journey to Lothlorien for an extended stay that their relationship begins to improve and stabilizes, eventually culminating in a formal engagement between them. The engagement party also leads to the Lord and Lady acknowledging Legolas as family.
At long last, the future is beginning to look brighter.
