The Week In Review
Jan. 7th, 2012 06:34 pmIr's been a mixed sort-of week. It started out fairly quiet but then it got busy all at once. So anyway....
Monday: It was quiet. I mostly just messed around online and thought about writing. I didn't call anyone since all of the calls I made on Sunday (about noon, here)to wish people a Happy New Year started (ended with people who were not yet ready to face the day, and almost all of them moaned "Do you have to be so chipper/cheerful/awake?" ::shrugs:: Go figure eh?
Tuesday: I got stuff ready for the appointment w/my accountant on Wednesday. I got LeeAnn licensed for the year and paid my water bill. I also got more mail, especially Christmas cards! So I then sent off a few late holiday cards and learned that stamps will be going up by one cent on Jan. 22. ::eye roll:: I only hope the raise will keep some of the small local post offices open, otherwise I will be very pissed.
Wednesday: Appointment w/accountant. Joined the local Y. (It's going to be expensive especially with gas prices going up but I don't have much choice. If I stay at home, I will be far too distracted by other things; as it is I only manage to take the little dog on a walk 2-3x/day for about a block because people are letting big dogs run loose and I know for a fact that some of them are mean.)
Thursday: I got a new pair of cross-trainers (measured and fitted by a salesman) because all of my other shoes are old and used to work in and do not always fit properly. There's no point in having poor fitting shoes mess me up just as soon as I start, right? Or as the saying goes: no hoof, no horse. Went to my first aerobics class which went ok. It's designed for older people and those of us who have spent much time as a couch potato. I also tried out some of the machines which will take some getting used to. All in all, not too bad. I talked to one of the aquacize instructors about those classes, which she thinks will be most helpful because the water will lower the overall stress. The problem seems to be finding a bathing suit, as I cannot wear sweats or shorts or t-shirts since chlorine devours cotton. (To say nothing of the fact that I am well past the age of looking good in a wet t-shirt, lol.)
It was when I came home that things got weird. I had just gone online when *something* went wrong with my browser (Firefox.) I have no idea what happened or anything, only that all at once I could see I had open windows when I hovered the mouse over the icon on the taskbar/toolbar but I couldn't get them to go back to full size, I could only see thumbnails. (Yes, I know it sounds weird.) As a result, I knew I had mail etc. but I couldn't respond to anything *or* figure out anything from the online help. Weirdly enough, almost everything else worked fine -- just not the browser. So finally C came on and helped me through im's; mostly giving me a new browser link to Google Chrome (to take the place of Firefox, which I had to uninstall.) I was up till 3am tinkering with it until it looked more like what I had.
Friday: I woke up at 6am to let the dog out; then I went straight back to bed and slept till about 11am. Then I went in to Hastings just to get in the habit of going in and doing something, even if it was only 15 min. on the treadmill.
Today I went in again to use the laundromat because due to issues w/my washing machine. It was way more expensive than I thought ($2.50 for a double load, and there were 5 loads. Yeah. So not fun. At least the dryers were somewhat cheaper at 25 cents for 5 min.) It all went ok except that the machine that had all of my underthings did not wash properly and... well, they got wet but most of them didn't really get *clean*. And it ran so long that they were almost dry again when I took them out. Gah! >:( So I went ahead and pulled them out, and now I am washing them by hand.
I met with Summer for lunch, and we made plans to go into Omaha next weekend to see if I can get a decent swimsuit. (I am almost positive I have one *somewhere* but no idea where.)
