Has anyone ever unfriended you without explanation? Did you ask why? Have you ever deleted someone from your friend list without saying why?

--Unfriended? I don't think so. But I guess if I've lost touch with them to that extent, then well... life is like that sometimes. :(

As for myself, I think I've only unfriended a few who had strike-throughs (sic), and even then, not very many.

I do like to know if someone is leaving or changing names because I like to stay in touch with people as much as is possible. I'll usually friend people back unless they have a really new journal and no public posts and very minimal or non-existent bio.

Btw, if you happen to notice that I haven't friended someone back and you know them (or if you happen to be them under a different sn), please let me know ok? Just say, "Doof! Don't you recognize [username]?" At which point I will probably say something brilliant like: "Erm, oopsies? :( " and friend them. Though (and here I am just guessing) since over 95% of my posts are public anyway, if you're not friended then you probably don't miss that much.

And in other news, the quasi-cold continues. Meh.

Yes I have been unfrinded without them saying why. I then contacted them and sayed "Bye, it was nice having you around" kind of thing, leaving an open for them to respond as to why.

I have unfreinded some people becouse they had not posted in years...I made a post saying I was going to "Thin" out my flist for that reason, then waited 2 weeks for responces and only then defriended

I rarely take someone off my friends' list, but when I do, it is for a very compelling reason. If someone cannot be bothered to write the entire word "with," for instance, or just has to write in internet speak, I can't handle it. Also, if the person is discussing illegal activity like dumpster diving, or doing drugs or alcohol to an extreme, I feel uncomfortable.

I de-listed some people on my old LJ because they friended me and I did not know them, then they said nothing, ever, so more for their benefit than mine, I had a *tidy up* .

I tend to keep my f-list small now, and to avoid wank, I am more likely to use filters than de-list any-one, unless they did something very nasty - in which case they would probably expect it.

I must not get the notices; then again I know that people can change journal names w/o actually changing their f-list. And I know with some older friends, rl has changed things so I don't expect to hear from then as much.

I usually use filters to check on my list; my filters tend to be based on the fandom I 'met' them in. Otherwise my list is somewhat overwhelming. Though I did have to leave a couple of comms because I couldn't reset it so that their posts weren't on my list.

That's understandable. Some things can be pretty "iffy" and it can be hard to tell just what is meant. The old rule of "once written, forever known" is definitely meant for the internet.

I've kept this same l-j for... several years now and I doubt if it is going to change very much. So far I've been very fortunate not to have any trouble but then I *think* that I probably know almost everyone, even if we might be less 'involved' at the moment; I like to think that we are still friends.

No one has defriended me yet... LoL! but I'm certain in time it will happen ;) If you don't hear a peep from someone you barely know in the first place for years, then you can defriend them without guilt in my opinion. But I'd never defriend someone for no good reason as long as we spoke at least occasionally. I tend to read everyone's journals even if I don't reply. Then, when I see something I feel like I can contribute to I reply. Anyway, I'm probably more confusing than helpful.

I always try to reply to entries but I admit I am much more likely to just read -- and attempt to catch up on fb to the writers.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I do not see people around for ages, but if they ever want to know where I am, I am contactable. And some I know are offline for long periods, like Beruthiel's Cat.
