I use AGV free for antivirus and spybot for spywear. Haven't had any problems since I installed AGV and I use Spybot once a week to clean out the buggies

I use AVG anti-virus and LavaSoft Ad-Aware 2008. Both free.

I also frequently run disk clean-up, delete temp files, defrag, and error-checking.
