Um, it's a nice thought, but there's no petition in this petition. The title is "Re-Open Prop 8" but nowhere in the text does it actually say anything to the effect of "We the undersigned ask that Prop 8 be put to another vote" or request any specific action be undertaken.

The rundown of fictions vs. facts is excellent. I wish that after No on 8 managed to scrape together advertising funds, that even one of the No on 8 ads had laid things out that straightforwardly or effectively. We got caught unprepared for pitched battle and got our asses and our engagement rings handed back to us; hopefully not our wedding rings, if the state Attorney General isn't just being clueless.

I'm hoping the courts or the legislature can fix this, but if not I would love to see California civil marriage go down in flames in the fallout, and California's entire ballot initiative system go down in hellfire and brimstone. I've always thought it a hell of a strange way to legislate, and it aids and abets tyranny by the majority sumthin' fierce.
