Yesterday, at the Lawyer's...
Nov. 9th, 2005 12:54 pmIt went ok. Not great, mind you, but ok. Hopefully my brother will get his stuff out of my house and so *that much* will be resolved. He's also going to have to sign for the stuff he takes as well, so he can't say that he didn't get them. I *so* want this to be over! I tried to convince my lawyer that I should be able to keep his guns and sell them for money, but he said that would just keep things tied up indefinately. *SIGH* Damn, and I could have gotten $1K for 'em, too. But getting him out of my life will be just as good. I just know he's going to keep claiming that he "left" things in there, so it will probably be an ongoing issue. I mean, I let him in last year to get some other things, and he totally cleaned out my cooking spices and oils and stuff. Seriously! And this was *after* he said he'd gotten all of his food out! I kept him from grabbing the baking powder, but the fact that he even nabbed the salt and pepper... Grrrrr! So when he said he wanted back in, my lawyer told him, "That's just not going to happen." Plus I will have back-up in the form of two of my male friends, just to make sure nothing gets too out of hand. He'll show up on the 19th at 1pm... Just a little over a week. The weird thing is, I kept putting his stuff outside for a *long* time--the clothes and stuff anyway--but he never showed up on the days he said he was and I got tired of hauling it in and out.
