The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

This is a classic Western of the best sort and if you haven't seen it, you really should. I won't spoil it for you either because that's not playing fair. It's filmed in b/w, which is a little unusual for a 1962 film (nearly everyone I've talked to who has seen it thinks it must have been filmed earlier than 1962 because of the b/w) but at the same time, I think it (the b/w film stock) adds to the story in a way that color film would have detracted from.
It is also based on a short story that was written by a woman (and interestingly, there will probably be another Western based on yet another short story written by a woman showing up on this list and oh I wonder if you can guess what it might be. ;)
