More Stormy Weather, Part 3
May. 29th, 2008 05:35 pmTornado has been spotted/touched down/confirmed damage in Kearney (North Railroad & 30th St.); the track of the storm is following Hwy. 30 east. Radar is showing a big nasty sucker, more or less heading my way.

In case you want to see what's happening here. Posting this before I lose net access. Judging by the way my little dog is acting... not good.
EDIT: damage in downtown Kearney and within city limits; 30-40 railroad cars derailed as well.
Hello supercell thunderstorm that spawns tornado. Now heading for Gibbon; a second supercell is heading for/on top of Elm Creek.

Storm Report
May. 29th, 2008 08:28 pmKearney really got nailed bad. Roughly 90 car train derailed, *lots* of damage. They are under a weather emergency.
if I heard correctly, the governor declared I-80 is closed from Grand Island to Aurora/York since there is a major semi pile-up at the Aurora interchange.
More storms along the KS/NE border and also north of Hwy. 30 but they seem to be moving in a straight line as opposed to moving diagonally. Obviously, this could change but my little dog is asleep and more relaxed than she was, so I am not worried *yet* though I am hearing thunder.
It's times like these when I realise just how much I watch tv to keep track of storms like these.
Back later on -- or not, as the case may be.
EDIT: Wind is picking up, in addition to thunder.
