Shopping is one of those things I both adore and loathe, mostly because it all depends on what I am shopping *for*.
If I'm shopping for books, then it's almost impossible to pry me away from the book store (or book section of a store, as the case may be) because I always see 'just one more' that Iwant need to buy.
I'm also a born window shopper. I adore looking at displays and seeing what's being offered. And because I usually walk slow (unless I'm in a hurry to get to a bookstore before it closes -- then I turn into an Olympic-class sprinter :), few people like to walk with me. But there's actually a lot to be learned from a window display -- not just what is displayed but what is not displayed. (Any store that doesn't show at least a few prices in the window means I probably can't afford anything inside there anyway.)
If it's clothing, I'm weirdly picky about what I want. Things have to fit me just so or I don't buy them. They also have to have a certain "me" look too. In fact, I've found I find things that fit me better at the various thrift stores rather than traditional retail for the simple fact that the older clothes fit/wear better. The new women's sizes tend to be cut 'weird' for lack of a better term and either don't fit the waist, or don't fit the legs. So I usually end up buying men's jeans/slacks. (If I do need to find something new that fits, I have to go to one of the 'specialty' stores and pay more than I am really comfortable spending. Otoh, since I don't wear such items often, they usually last for several years. Heh.)
Shoes are another matter. Since my feet became messed up (fallen arches) and I have to wear special inserts, I can only wear one size/style. I only buy shoes at one particular store, where they still measure your feet properly.
