Dec. 12th, 2014 10:24 pmToday's topic: Shopping (i.e., ordinary, everyday things)
As many of you have no doubt noticed by now, I do a lot of shopping (aka errand day) in Hastings. The reason for this is very simple: it's cheaper. In many cases, a lot cheaper.
Let me give you an example: the price of gas/petrol (today) was $2.59/gal in the town where I live. In Hastings? $2.34. Generic dog food (single can): here, $1.17; Hastings, $0.75. As much as I would like to buy gas here and support our local store, I just can't. Not when the difference is so great.
I blame the Evil Empire of WM for the bulk (90% +) of this problem. Of course, there are some things that I buy here. Mostly very perishable things like meat, ice, etc. but there are a few others as well.
Anyway, here is a link if you want to read more about my hometown. ::cue Springsteen music::

(At last it's a lot more fun than the Wiki entry.)
