And Today Was

... a really *really* nice day. Warm and pretty and everything. Ol' Sam finally got the belt for the Omni (for some reason he was thinking it was an '82 while I knew it was an '79. I'm dumb as fuck-all when it comes to cars but I do know my Omni). and put it on so that now it runs **much** better. I went to KMart to see if the cellphone was in (the one I got a raincheck for) but I had barely walked inside wher the lights went out. I mean totally out in the entire mall. So I stood around with a bunch of other people waiting to see what was going on. It turns out that a grass fire had blown a transformer in the NW section of Hastings; it knocked out the Mall, Big G, Wal-Mart -- basically everything north and west of 12th St & Burlington/US Hiway 281. Weirdly, the traffic lights were ok but when I went out, I went down to 2nd St to be safe. I didn't want anything to do w/that 12th & Burlington section, no f'ing way. It was going to take about 2 hrs. for them to get that transformer fixed, replaced, whatever, so I left. I mean, the computers were down, cash registers... you name it. Really makes you kinda scared to see how dependent we are on technology. Anyway, from there I went on downtown and picked up a book and a couple of cds at the used book store, then circled back and got a pizza at Little Cesar's for $6 (large, 1 topping) which was the special and $4 cheaper than it would have been here at home. Ate about half of it (and yes, I missed lunch which is why I was such a pig) and saved the other half for tomorrow's lunch. While I waited for my pizza, I went next door to Applause Video to check out what they had. Didn't rent anything because if this storm hits like they claim, I don't want to be stuck w/huge late fees. Netflix isn't an option 'cause I really don't watch that many in the first place, and what I do watch, I already have. In any case, I tend to like "weird shit" -- hahaha. In other news... hmmmm. Oh yeah, I called my Aunt and she told me that Perkins is quarantined because of the flu. Shit. I hate to hear that, I tend to really worry about her. But she's had her flu shot and the dr. sent her some pills to take anyway, so hoepfully all will be well. Meantime, I am going into hibernation mode.
